Test winner for the second year in row: Mycall has the best 4G network in Norway
If you are using Mycall you have the best 4G network in Norway. We have won the biggest 4G test in 2017. (like we did in 2016)
Tek.no conducted Norway's largest coverage test and concluded that Mycall (Telia) has the best 4G network in Norway.
We have no restrictions on speed.
When you surf the Internet on 3G or 4G, you can expect a speed rate between 55 and 280 Mbit /s. Theoretical maximum speed is 375 Mbit /s.
The surfing speed may vary depending on the following:
- Whether you are inside or outside
- Thick walls (brick, concrete, etc.) can slow it down
- Good speed needs good 3G or 4G coverage in your area
- If several people are using mobile data simultaneously in the same area, the speed can slow down
- The speed is best where it is the shortest distance to the network station.
- To achieve theoretical maximum speed your phone must support 4G+.
|Technology||Practical max download speed||Practical max upload speed|
|4G+||Up to 220 Mbit/s||Up to 35 Mbit/s|
|4G||Up to 80 Mbit/s||Up to 35 Mbit/s|
|3G||Up to 30 Mbit/s||Up to 8 Mbit/s|
|2G||Up to 200 kbit/s||Up to 100 kbit/s|
Exceptions for those who pay with invoice: Once you have used up the mobile data in your subscription and/or data package, the speed is reduced to 64 kbit/s. We do this so that your invoice doesn't get too high.
Tek.no performed coverage test in May 2016 and April/May 2017.
Speed and volume
What speed you need varies from service to service. Here are examples of what streaming can require of speed and how much data is being used:
|Speed requirements (minimum)||0,5 Mbps||0,5 Mbps||0,5 Mbps||3 Mbps||0,03 Mbps||0,4 Mbps||0,03 Mbps|
|Speed requirements (Highest quality)||5 Mbps||1 Mbps||5 Mbps||4 Mbps||0,4 Mbps||N/A||1,5 Mbps|
|Usage (minimum)||330 MB/hour||160 MB/hour||0,8 GB/hour||0,5 GB/hour||14 MB/hour||70 MB/time||30 MB/hour|
|Usage (Highest quality)||1,2 GB/hour||1 GB/hour||1,3 GB/hour||2 GB/hour||84 MB/hour||140 MB/hour||N/A|
As a Mycall customer, you always get maximum speed available, no matter how much data you use or what you use data for. Except for those who pay with invoice: Once you have used up the mobile data in the subscription/data package, the speed decreases to 64 kbit/s. We do this so that your invoice doesn't get too high.
